RAY: Real-time Acres and Yield
Lanworth’s Real-time Acres and Yield product uses daily satellite imagery to develop timely and accurate estimates of agricultural production in key international markets. Satellite imagery, analyzed in the context of local soil, weather, management, and plant genetic conditions, provides spatially detailed crop area and yield estimates at national scales. Lanworth’s production estimates support decision-making by commodity traders, supply chain managers, and producers. RAY, Lanworth’s agriculture web portal, delivers production estimates, expert commentary, and supporting data in map, table, and GIS-compatible formats.
| Markets covered | Corn and Soybeans (U.S. and Brazil) |
| Wheat (U.S., Australia, and Ukraine) | |
| Palm Oil (Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand) |
|
| Key features | Crop areas are mapped at the field/plantation level using proprietary image analysis techniques. |
| Yield estimates are based on image analysis calibrated by models of crop growth under varying weather, soil, management, and genetic conditions. | |
| Production estimates are released at least one week before comparable estimates from USDA and are updated on a weekly basis. | |
| Estimates and supporting data are available in tabular and map formats at different summary levels (county, district, state, nation). | |

|
| Web portal | High level production estimates are presented together with commentary and detailed comparisons to estimates from other sources. |
| Data can be viewed in tabular or map formats within the portal. | |
| Data can also be exported or served to other applications such as Excel, ArcGIS, or Google Earth. |
|
| Data layers | Crop status (type, condition, yield potential) |
| Crop environment (soils, weather, rotation history) | |
| Transportation (road/rail/barge network, storage locations) | |
| Local demand points (processing facilities, feedlots, ethanol plants) |
In addition to production estimates and base data layers, Lanworth provides custom analysis and decision support though web portal add-ons and/or consulting projects. Detailed production data and sophisticated GIS modeling techniques support best-of-class analysis of commodity flow, procurement areas, and competition zones to optimize supply chain logistics.
